Default Dreaded front end noise

I have developed that front end noise only it's not a rattle more of a bumping like some rubber moving around and bumping. I have a 2000 es with 98 xxx miles I just had the front strut mounts done 2 weeks ago now it sounds worse.

they might have done it wrong, ask them to look at it again.
could also be something simple; as simple as the bellows or another part like the stab bar or links

Hi Kef300,

I totally sympathise with you because I had the exact same problem. I put up with it for almost a year until I finally got the cash to fix it.

Here's what I did, and now....NO NOISE

(Read all the posts - I updated it at the end)

Try spraying some silicone lub into the strut mount from the top and from the bottom (bump stop).

lol, my front end noise is due to some bright Lexus repair technician who broke off one of my tabs for the hood grill... *rattle rattle rattle*

Good luck on your fix though, I might learn something for when it does happen to me

I live in Canada where temperature can hit -4degF. On cold day, I would hear knocking sound from my front suspension. After 15-20 minutes, I don't hear it anymore.

I read on other forums that spraying silicone lube solved the problem. I tried and it worked.

I did NOT remove the strut mouts. I opened the hood and sprayed from top. Then I jacked up the front of the vehicle, lifted up the strut boot, pulled down the bump stop, and sprayed upwards.

Hi kef300,

I paid $1,250 AUS for my parts which is the equivalent to about $1,165 US, but WAIT........

YOU GUYS IN THE USA ARE VERY, VERY LUCKY BECAUSE WHAT COST ME $1,250 for parts in AUSTRALIA, THE VERY SAME OEM PARTS IN THE USA ONLY COST ABOUT $452 US (and that's for ALL the oem parts excl shipping that you saw on my thread!!!)

I wanted to get the front end parts from the US but nobody would ship the struts overseas so I had to 'bite the bullet' and buy them all in AUST for big $$$ .

Good luck with solving the problem.
