Default All 5spd Manual. Recommend Shift Cables?

hey, to all 5spd Manual. or manual tranny drivers.

my shift cables have taken a toll. I can't shift fast into second gear without missing shifting.

it feels really mushy. i check my cables and it there are major wear and tear. so what would anyone recommend?

How many miles have you had your racing clutch in? They are only rated for like 1,000 miles

Shift cables should be fine unless they are unhooked.

My cables are fine, so I wish I could help ya. The jello shifter must be a real pain. But ill try and search for some cables for ya. Ive spent quite a bit of $$ on my ES this winter so im done buying parts for now.

Swifty I cant seem to find any aftermarket cables. Im beginning to think that might be a dealer only part unless someone else has a link.

dont rest your hand on the shifter when you're not using it, but besides that ..... ::rollseyes:: you may need shifter cables and/or bushings. I currently know only one place to go and that's toyota. but there could be
a much better source of some kind.

I have similar issue thanks to previous owners, but I am used to it being already and I dont care. except when it tries to take off in 3rd gear ... lol

My shifter is fine but....

you might wanna try the shifter cable bushing kit from speed-source. It's only $26 shipped and it's known to drastically improve shifting feel according to Toyotanation members. Just get the one made for the camry and it should be a direct fit.

http://www.speed-source.net/

worth a try IMO! Please update us on your findings/progress as it may be great reference for us 5speed guys! GL!

I was going to say the only place I know to get them from is the dealer. But the kit Maniax is talking about seems like a good deal.

Thanks for that link maniax. Imma order me one of those right now. Should be pretty sweet. 26 bucks aint bad to tighten up the shifter.

sure not a bad price if its quality and such... but the thing of it is that it's a little annoying to change them on some cars. so be prepared for an entire day of shifter cable replacement lol I will consider doing this when I have the money. and I'll come back to this thread.

edit im not sure i see the correct part on either of those links. which part is it?

edit2 "The Toyota version of the kit fits most front wheel drive Toyota cars with manual transmission. It fits MR2 85'-95', MR2 Spyder, Corolla, Tercel, Camry, Celica, New Celica, Matrix, Scion Tc, Pontiac Vibe and more!

Only $26 shipped to the USA, Canada, AND Western Europe! The Toyota BIG! version of the kit fits 93' to 99' Celica, 94'+ Camry and Solara, and Scion Xa, Xb. One of the bushings is much larger than in the regular kit.
Only $28 shipped to the USA, Canada, AND Western Europe!"

which one applies to the '92 & '93 es300? note, these are the bushings

are you sure in that other link that those shifter cables are good? i would think that its the bushings that are the most screwed up. the cable is probably ok. i wouldn't trust that universal one unless it was proven to work on this particular car, that is 92 and 93 ES300
