What is it!? I've been unable to figure out it's purpose. I have a 93 ES300.

It's a secondary FM radio antenna...you turn it to bring in weak signals on the radio...
But seriously, you sort of answered your own question. It is a sun visor for the gap above the rear view mirror.

Ahh! Thanks =) I thought maybe it might be for high-profile lights from behind at night..but that didn't work out when I tried it. Thanks

When someone has high profile lights, you're supposed to flip the little switch on the bottom of the mirror... unless you have an SC just hit the button, or an automatic rear view mirror with a light sensor.

I know about adjusting the rear view for lights...all cars have that (well most) ..I just couldn't figure out the visor's intended purpose for a while ::silly me::

llcoolpass,

Thanks for the welcome! I'm thrilled to have found this thread....I love learning about cars...and especially this one (got it in August 07).

Hopefully my silliness won't be too annoying...I have much to learn =)

Thanks for everyone's help!
