Question Lexus Platinum Program

Does anyone have this warranty? Seems to me with all these possible problems, an extended warranty might not be a bad idea.

The Platinum Program is Lexus backed, right? What prices are people getting?

I know for my truck, the message board I belong to found a dealer who offered it for $25 over cost. That'd be awesome.

The engine and tranny are covered up to 70K miles, powertrain. But, if you want the warranty, it depends on the time and mile choice that you pick. But, yeah, $25 over cost is a great price.

Hmmm, good point about the powertrain warranty. I always think in terms of the regular bumper to bumper. Still, I'd like 100K miles since I tend to drive a lot. I wish it went to 8 yrs tho. My Honda truck's extended warranty is awesome. 8 yrs/120K miles. After that amount of time/miles, you've exhausted the reasonable use out of the car.

The warranty is 7 yrs / 100 K miles. I was offered this warranty for 1350 by the dealership. I declined at that moment. Because you can always buy that as long as you are within factory warranty. I bought the similar toyota platinum for my sienna when I had 35000 miles on my vehicle for $800. For Lexus $1300 was reasonable. For my toyota, with 74 K miles, I already had recovered that cost. Its really worth it. There are so many electronic components. Even one trip to dealership would recover the cost of warranty.

However, when I had issues (Still have these) with my transmission, Lexus offered me Platinum warranty without any charge.

Interesting. I think I'll do what you did and just wait then.

So it doesn't get more expensive the longer you wait? The only extended warranty i've ever bought was for my Honda, and the longer you waited, the more expensive it got.

The only positive to buying the warranty at purchase time is the ability to roll it into your loan (if you finance). If money is not an object, than pay cash for one later down the road.

You can also buy it directly from Lexus, I believe there is a web site or link. If you search this forum, you may find it. I remember it being posted about 1 year ago.
