what you mean your car take forever in the morning? I usually just start it up and drive ..... lol..... do I have to wait for the temp to go to normal before driving it?

also I still don't know whats the deal with my lexus sometime not having to start, it cranks but dies immediately. This only happen right after I turn off my engine then turn it back on after 10min or so. How to fix this and how to tell this problem to the technician so he knows?

oh and slooooow, no problem don't worry about it, I kno the peeps here are very friendly ESPECIALLY YOU *wink wink* lol jk

Hey my question had nothing to do with with a high idle at all. If you go back and read the question, im asking about the rpm spike during a hot start. Im well aware of the high idle being "normal" I think the question is being misunderstood.

If the engine wants to speed up to get oil pressure and get the o2s online quicker, i can help it by putting it in gear and driving. Instead of wasting gas idling. Only when its near freezing or below should you warm it up; and even that should be brief.

I don't think it's bad to drive it off instantly after starting it... But I think you just shouldn't Floor it instantly after starting it.

The manual states that letting it idle until it warms up is actually harmful to the catalytic converter and something else; I don't remember.

Lexus says to let it idle for only 10-30 seconds before driving off.

Mine is a '95 with 170k miles. The engine is a 1MZ-FE. Surely by '98 things were the same or better.

I love my car and would let it warm up for minutes if it would help. I'm never in such a hurry I can't wait that long... except the book said more than 30 secs had no benefit and they actually discouraged it stating it could be harmful.
