Speaking from experience, no.
I like some of the Weapon-R products like the Secret Weapon Intake, http://weapon-r.com/english/index.ph...oducts_id=5356 and the new V2 intake, http://weapon-r.com/english/index.ph...oducts_id=5896 but the Dragon Intake did nothing but make a loud roar at 3000 RPM. I eventually gave said air filter to my cousin for his VW Golf VR6, he also hated it, but kept it for car shows as it is so rare to have such a filter like that (not bad looking either) that it gets him a few extra points.
The intake sans filter still is a very functional part of my current air intake system that you can see on page 6 of the link below. And I plan to do some more updates to this system before the end of the year.
However, one intake I have been looking at is the one from Custom Performance Engineering. Solara owners know all about these, http://www.cp-e.com/scan/fi=products...roup/to=x.html
Still no intake will beat the fine performance coming out of a direct flow exhaust (and if you so choose a nice y-pipe).
