has anyone here put a k & n filter in thier es? i wanna do it but i wasnt sure if it was really worth it, did anyone feel a difference? it says it wll boost acceleration. just wanna hear any suggestions, or comments.

 

Adding just a better high flowing filter is not going to make that big of a difference. But if you plan on building up your ride down the road (i.e. better intake, free-er flowing exhaust, etc....) then yes, you will start to see an improvement.
K&N is a good buy regardless as it allows you to clean it when it gets dirty - saving you $$ in the long run.
Remember - our engines are basically air pumping machines - if you introduce better intake flow, then you will want to equal that on the exhaust side at some point by opening it up in size.

 

they dont do anything & filter worse than stock.

and they're more expencive through 90,000 miles VS replacing the filter with a generic


my little cousin just bought me an xbox360. i need to buy a wireless headset. if you give me $20 you can have my K&N filter had about a year of driving on it...

 

The stock one works quite well... no need for replacement. They have been designed to recieve maximum intake.

 

Most of us who have used k & n filters realize.. "wow, this $65 thing hasn't done crap for me".

Save your cash and get something nice.

 

And it won't BadViper because it's still in the intake box that is restrictive to begin with.All your air comes through a 2" tube running from the front bumper. Not enough air gets in to tell if there is a difference or not.

 

Even if you had a ton of air coming in, is the air/fuel mapping variable enough to take advantage of more air?

The stock CAI is not restrictive. Hence why the majority of intakes you put on the engine loose power. hah

 

Now that is funny so all the intakes on the es' do nothing?

is the secret weapon intake good??? alot of ppl have it on there es and said its nice....

 

don't waste your money. it will eventually burn out your maf sensor, and that will cost you anywhere from $80-200 depending on where you buy the sensor

trust me, these motors are picky, the same thing happened to the wife's 4runner and my co-workers' rx as did my es

I did the intake that pheonix showed everyone how to do, and i cant complain. It costs less than a K & N filter and it gives a good sound a quicker response.

Bottom line is that natural aspiration cant compare to forced induction...

 

ALot of them loose horsepower, sometimes it's the same and sometimes they gain alittlebit.
the thing to understand is that unless you just do something really really dumb to choke the intake, you're not really gunna make a 5bhp differance good or bad.
