question about DTC code
I have a 1999 ES300 with 58,000 miles on it and I have had ongoing problems with the engine light and trac off lite coming on requiring about 4 trips to have O2 sensors replaced(I understand there are only 3 but I must be replacing the same ones more than once). Anyway when my engine light came on yesterday, I readon this forum(thank you very much) I could go to Advance Auto and get them to scan it for free, which I did. I got the readout, and it says "P0446 EVAP Emission control System Vent circuit Malfuntion", then it says "this indicates a malfunction in ceratin systems or components". Can somebody tell me what this means and what I need to get fixed this time? I just had it inspected in June for emissions control and it passed. I love the car otherwise. thank you.

BTW welcome to ClubLexus!
o2 sensors. ( I wonder if they really needed replacing or if it has been the charcoal cannister all along.)
strike 1
strike 2

I would check the canister and the vsv attached to it...
Good luck!

edit: Not sure about the warranty thing

We can get any part for your Lexus.
This is a ballpark of what you are looking to spend to replace. This place supplies OEM parts. I, personally, am not sure if there are any aftermarkets available. Hope this helps a little.

I wanted to check the dates before responding. When I bought my Lexus, it still had 3 months left on the original warranty. That was one reason I bought it because it still had some warranty on it. In those last 3 months I had I major problem the repair costs $2,000 . I said, no problem, it is still under warranty. The dealer told me that since the original owner picked the car up in Sept 1998, even tho it was a 1999 car, they had to count the 3 months of 1998 on her warranty, meaning that even tho it was nowonly Sept 2003, the warranty had expired because they applied it to her3 months in 98. Can you believe that? I had a car I just bought and was told was still under warranty, and i think it was, but because the origianl owner got it early, they deducted those months in 1998 from 2003. I thot this was a big stinker, and I have not gone back there since. Unfortunately every now and then you must use a dealer for something and I was dreading it.
