Default Rust on a 2007

Hello,

I find this very strange....after about 9k miles on city highways on my 2007 I have a few paint chips on the front part of the hood....not much you can do about this.

However, a few of them are actually starting to rust....I have had many paint chips on many cars over the years and never actually seen rust. This seems really odd to me and before I bring in for 10k service wanted to see if anyone seen something similar...

Thanks!

Paint chips, unfortunately yes. (Shoulda, woulda, coulda done the clear bra.) Rust no.

Lexus sells these really cool paint pens that make it a breeze to fill in the chips. Not as good as professional repair, but I'll take the $15 as opposed to several hundred for spot repair for now.

Yes - I have seen this. The paint must be very soft as I did have some stonechip damage all the way down to the metal.. which also had some subseuent rust spots. This damage occured during winter driving on snow covered roads, and I'm guessing the salt used on the roads didn't help either.

paint sucks nowadays. all cars rust when metal is exposed.
get touchup paint, and carefully fill it in.
