I do 5K or once a year oil changes on all 4 of my vehicles. The Lexus and old Volvo get dino oil where the Jaguar and New Chevy truck gets Syn. The Lexus cost are $25 for the oil $8 for the filter , 1 hour of my labor cost of $80 (my hourly rate prior to retirement) and garage/tool/lift depreciation of $8 per hour. So the net is $121 for the job.
An interesting not I had my 1st dealer oil service on my new Chevy 5.3L pick up and it used 3/4 of a quart of oil in 6800 miles. I spoke to service manager and he gave me the service bulletin which stated normal oil usage of up to 1 quart in 7500 miles. Needless to say I was not happy .
