It appears that the hybrid disk does NOT work with the 08. I tried several disks that do work in a friends 07 model but will not boot in my 08. Perhaps sombdy else with an 08 can confirm. I looked at the first link above referencing the manual switch. Unless I'm reading it incorrectly isn't the light blue wire that needs to be cut the same light blue wire that gets connected to the orange wire in the "How to enable Telephone, etc" mod?

Does anyone know how/where to purchase the override switch from prestigious society? I emailed them several days ago and have not heard back as of yet.

I have a working Gen5 v7.1 w/the v5.1 loading file. This will allow you to use ALL of the navigation functions (including address input and cell phone inputs) while in motion w/o having to open up the dash or splice any wires. I started a thread in the nav section here.

I've e-mailed before and they said it doesn't work on the ES350.

Hybrid Disc Load Problem
Quote: Well, here's my problem.. I inserted my Hybrid disk and I get the screen that says "A program cannot be read. Please consult to a dealer." along with the Japanese characters.

I can't figure out how to get the DVD out so that I can try again.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Update: Thanks to this thread (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=277929), I found out how to force eject the DVD (press the upper right corner and then the lower right corner of the Nav screen).
Triom,

Did you ever solve your hybrid disc problem. I have a 2009 Lexus RX350 with identical problem.

Thanks,

Frank

I just now saw this message.

If you are trying to get the disc out: press the upper right corner and then the lower right corner of the Nav screen

If you are trying to create the hybrid disc, try using another dvd burner. When I used my desktop, all the discs would have that message and wouldn't work. For whatever reason, when I used my laptop, it worked fine.

I thought it was going to be a quick and easy process but I ended up making a bunch of coasters. So then I tried to just make a duplicate of the factory DVD and found that I couldn't do so on my desktop. But it worked on my laptop, so then I tried burning the hybrid DVD on my laptop and it worked.

Hope that helps a little. Let me know if you got it working.

I'm still a little confused. So does the hybrid dvd only work on the 2007 model? Is there a way to enable NAV for the 2008 model?

From the posts I have seen re 2008 models it appears that the Hybrid disk does not work on the 2008s.

Purely speculation on my part, if not complete nonsense--dunno if the 2008 model nav and (ML) radio are interlinked (intertwined) with each other as far as the internal electronics and/or firmware are concerned; if so, then I could see where the hybrid disc might not work on a 2008 ML radio/nav head unit--the 2008 ML radio does have one audio-related feature not found on the 2007 ML version...namely, an audio setting based on seating position (I'm not talking about the fader function)--I noticed this feature while I was driving an '08 ES loaner...thought it might have been introduced w/ the 7.1 U32D nav disc but alas, it did not appear as an audio option when I loaded the 7.1 disc in my '07 ML radio. Anyways, my point is that perhaps the "brains" of the ML radio/nav on the 2008 version may be slightly different, to the point that perhaps it can't correctly interpret the code found on older loading.kwi file versions...hence why the hybrid disc fails to work correctly on a 2008 nav radio.

Has anyone been able to get a hybrid disc working in a 2008 system without ML?

Lexus NAV & DVD Override Module
I just discovered this override module. Go to:

http://www.PrestigiousSociety.com

When you go there you will NOT see the ES350 listed BUT you might contact them because, as I remember it, the same disk-burning NAV override for the 2007 ES350 also worked on the 2007 GS350 and they do list the GS350.

My point is, maybe these folks can make it work on the 2008 models with the latest GPS maps.
