I recently bought a pre-owned 1997 Lexus ES300. The car only came with the valet key..no remote access transponder. I was curious as I see a lot of keys for sale online, ebay, etc. Can I buy one to program myself? What information is needed to make sure I get the right key? Also, I see that later model ES300's come with the transponder built into the key. If I have to buy something, can I just buy one of those and have it cut/programmed to fit my 1997 ES300? One more thing. I do not have a FCC ID so is this something I need? How do I obtain it?

 

All '97's are the same: BAB237131-056

 

I found a remote transponder and when my car was in for service they replaced the battery and programmed it for me. All told, it was an additional 50bucks to the service, not a bad deal.

 

Were would I find the fcc code on the remote and would this be for es300 1997?

 

It's on the back. Yes, the ES300.

 

is There another fcc code that would work with this es300 1997? Does anyone have the list?
