These kinds of "minor" issues drive me nuts and shouldn't be found on a luxury car. A fit and finish inspection is the very first thing I did when the dealer presented me with the car. It's often hard to make a careful and objective inspection with all the excitement of picking up your new car, but it pays off.

Fortunately, my ES350 doesn't have any trim or panel misalignments.

my car doesnt have any alignment problems overall, tho i think the rear bumper could have been installed 1mm tighter.

I have this door "misalignment" also and i truly believe all of the ES350s have this. I went to the dealership and looked at 3 ES350 and all have this. It's supposed to be like this, as you notice that the L-finess side view slopes upwards from front to back, so the *** is kinda high. This upward slope will obviously make the trim install higher. This is IMHO not a defect. It's the way it's supposed to be. If anyone does NOT have this setup, please post a picture cus I'd be darn if the trim looks different.

Kaius,

Before I got my new car I thought they were all like that too as even loaners were like it, they are NOT supposed to be.

My passenger side is perfectly aligned and my drivers side only slightly dips and at 5k svc. will ask they raise the latch on driver door an 1/8th or perhaps less like a strong 1/16th whatever is possible.

And no I'm not set up for pics but believe me when I tell you the passenger side is perfect.

I think these are just final adjustments that were not done on many cars.

dreyfus,

You seem skilled with tools, if you are up for it, see if you can easily lower your front door latch, the U shaped latch on b pillar, so that the lower chrome front window trim dips a good 1/8th inch in relation to where it should be aligned to rear door window trim and then drive it and see what that does or does not do as to general sound intrusion and wind noise of any kind. Mine, old car, were off like picture SDL posted, the driver's side got an adjustment by someone one time at dealer but passenger side was just as SDL pic. I'm curious if this causes sound intrusion and wind noise though lack the skills to try it, and it seems others are curious as well.

Lexus should be ASHAMED of your spelling. Geeze!

Okay, I don't own an ES350 however, this makes me curious if my IS is in the same shape. I'll have to investigate!

HAHA I was thinking the exact same thing - I'm glad you said it instead of me Anyway, I've seen this on many cars, including those cost significantly more than a "+$40K Lexus."

I used to notice how none lined up myself until my new is perfect on passenger side and only slightly off driver's side.

These are final adjustment issues that can be addressed. And they have no place on a Lexus judging by the alignment on my passenger side.

This is something I expected from Hyundai 15 years ago, but not a brand new +$40K Lexus. Here are some pics. Check to see if you have the same problems. It's something I will bring up with the dealer for the first servicing.

Both sides

I am ashamed I have to re-title this thread due to spelling.

No car is perfect. It is getting a little tiring people thinking Lexus have 0 or no defects. No such car. Every other thread title in this forum is like a 3 year old kid trying to get attention |
"Lexus is not all that"
"A piece of wood is not shiny"
"There is a thread in the carpet missing"

Well I am going to start heavily monitoring this forum as it is turning into a COMPLAIN fest.

Kudos to those that have issues and share them and post solutions. All this bickering is going to end.

For every 1 unhappy Lexus customer there are 1,000 happy ones. Probably more.

That kind of adjustment is easy to do. The U latch has a plastic cover that has to be pried off, but otherwise has just two screws like on any other car.

My guess is that if someone is having wind noise through the door the door needs to be drawn IN, not DOWN. You can also move the door in and out by repositioning this latch.

Having said that, my doors don't have a wind issue and my trim is already straight, so I don't want to mess with them. It will take someone with the wind problem to attempt this to see if any relief is gained by tweaking the door alignment. I could only make things worse.

Since you once had a mis-aligned passenger door AND a correctly-aligned driver's door, you're the perfect test case. Did your lemonmobile display differences in noise levels between the two doors?

When roughly 2/3 of members who are answering the poll celibon did indicate they have a complaint and only roughly 1/3 indicate they got problem free cars it is no wonder you see posts of the type you personally do not like.

As for spelling and quite frankly your attack of a member over it, I don't know what to say except it seems most un-CL like.

As for alignment, nobody needs to get all frustrated over it as it seems an easy fix for their dealer to adjust and it seems it is no small number of cars with this pesky yet very minor item.

thanks for calling it like it is! i agree...

as regards to the comment about the 1 unhappy and 1,000 happy customers, youve hit the nail on the head. the unhappy ones are the ones who are easily the most vocal, the happy ones are typically content and keep to themselves.

ok, right as I hit submit I thought to myself there is no way drefus is going to go for it and adjust his car to be out of alignment...LOL..worth a try though, no?

Give me a week and I'll report back on this issue where wind noise is concerned, sound. Right now I'm just enjoying my new car experience.

Ashaimed ashamed...sorry folks, I guess that's why my degree is in Mechanical Engineering. I even had a hard time in my Technical Writing class. Anyway, I think the couple paragraphs I wrote are spelling error free. No spell check=dead in water for me. Time to download.

Anyone here remember one of the original Lexus commercials with the steel ball bearing?

Your thread title was "un-CL" like and could be potentially flame inducing. "Lexus should be ashamed". Ashamed of what? That it is now the best selling car in class? That it is still the most reliable in class? That is continues to set the STANDARD for entry level luxury? Again, NO LEXUS is perfect. Cars are more and more complicated than ever and they have to meet cost requirements. Some Lexus and cars will be better built than others. This is the FIRST YEAR of production and Lexus is not immune to issues.

They do the best job of trying to fix the issue and appease the customer. This is proven by their countless Dealer Satisfaction awards.

I sympathize with your problem and I do hope you get it fixed. Please let us know when a solution is found.
