Default Help newb headlight question!!

I just bought my first Lexus, a 1997 ES300, a few months ago and I love it. I noticed that my drivers side headlight bulb is burnt out and I was wondering if you have to remove the whole headlight unit to replace the bulb? Can I get a bulb that will fit my Lexus from a local autoparts store or do I need to go to a dealer? I really don't want to take my car to a mechanic to have them change a headlight bulb. Any helpful info will be appreciated.

Cool

HID > HIR > $6 Sylvania bulb > the rest.
Bulb comes out the back.

Don't take your car to a mechanic!

The head light bulb size is H7 and you don't need to take the entire headlight off.

1. First open your hood, look behind the headlight and you'll see some wires connected to the bulb. Disconnect the wire.

2. Next pull out the circular rubber weather proof ( if you pull it, it should come right off).

3. Then you'll see a bent up wire like a paper clip. Notice there is a hook holding the bulb on the headlight unit. Push forward and slide the clip off and open the harness. The bulb should now come right off.

Hope this helps.

Just remember how the bulb fits in the bracket it sits in because it only goes back in one way. Oh, and put the rubber boot back on before you hook up the headlight relay - don't be stupid like me or you'll have to take the boot back off - may save you some trouble.
