Default CD Changer - Error 1? Please help

Hi,

For some reason my changer has stopped working!!!! Maybe someone can help me...

It recognizes discs fine. It also can change to different discs; however, once I select a disc I do not see anything on my display. Ie the track and time will not appear...

It seems as though the player is trying to play, it will try to reinsert the disc a couple times and then eventually the lcd displays ERR 1.

Can anyone offer any suggestions??? I can't be without my music!

Thanks,

slevytam

usually I get this error when I load CD's in the changer right side up. They're supposed to go in there upside down.

They're not scratched real bad or anything, are they? The CD's I mean? Maybe the laser is having a hard time picking up the tracks?

I think Err 1 refers to not being able to read the discs, but I may be wrong.

Hi,

Thanks for your replies.... I wish it was that I put the cds in wrong but unfortunately not.

What happened was that I had burned some new cds. I tried to play them and they wouldn't play. Then all the other ones stopped working as well...

Is there no reset or way to clean the changer? I tried using an air can but no luck!

Thanks,

slevytam

Hi,

There has been some improvement! My CD Player will now read tracks and attempt to play them. The really strange thing is that the first 3-4 tracks of every cd are filled with static (loud static) at intermitant times. The rest of the tracks seem to play fine.

This is very strange... Anyone have an idea what I can do???

Thanks,

slevytam

I get the "err" thing sometimes on my ES... but I keep changing discs like when it goes "err" on 1, I go 1 thru 6 and back to 1 and it reads again.

I had this problem before when I had my '96 ES (getting the ERR message on the stereo console). I bought one of those CD cleaner discs from the local music shop. This disc has a very small thin brush attached to the underside, and all you have to do is run the disc for a specified time so as to allow the actual cleaning of the components inside the CD changer. After I ran thru the disc a couple times, the changer was playing back to normal, and I noticed the brush from the cleaner disc picked up quite a bit of dust from the changer!

I recommend trying this method
