Problem under bumper
Yesterday I noticed this awful noise coming from under the hood whenever my car was moving. Stopped, there was no noise. So, of course, it turned out that something was dragging the ground. It's a piece of plastic right under the fog lights/bumper that is attached with several screws. I think this is the part that always scrapes low driveways. It was broken (probably from a driveway), and I simply ripped it down and threw it away. Does anyone know what this piece is/what it does, and how much it would cost to replace? Is it important enough to replace? Thanks for your help.

i think it's kinda important. cuz it keeps water and all that dirty stuff from going on the bottom of your radiator and engine .. you can do a custom one.. ask Pheonix he had a DIY on that..
It's an undertray. Keeps crap from jumping up into the engine & promotes good airflow flow through the engine bay.
It's just ABS plastic. It's easy to repair if you have the pieces (just broken). You heat a soldering iron up fairly hot & use some zip ties as welding material. Plastic welding is easy. Just do it outside, whoa momma it's fume city.
Only trick to plastic welding is using the right kind of plastic to melt pieces back together. Zip ties works well with the ABS plastic used all over our cars.
You can make a huge one too to help top speed, highway mileage & high speed stability. As 1993ES300x kindly pointed out, I wrote a guide about it awhile back.
