window problem

Default window problem

My driver side back window won't lock in place or roll all the way up. I took the door panel off and see how it works, but not sure how to fix it. Does anyone know how to fix this problem or how much it might cost to get it fixed?

Did this just start? Or, did it begin after some mishap?

Lock in place? Not sure what you mean here.

All the windows I've ever delt with use an "X" method to raise and lower it. There is also a guide bar at the bottom of this assembly that the rollers on the end of the "X" assy fit into. If some loose object has landed into this channel, it will keep the rollers from completely traversing. Take a look there to see if a screw, clip, or nut has wedge itself in the channel.

It just happened the other day when I was rolling my windows down due to the hot weather. The power for the window still works, but the window is very loose. I can manually push it up, but it does not stay. At first, the wire that operates the up and down motion was tangled, but the window was still very loose. I think the window slides down because there is no tension on the wire. I thought maybe I need to take off the motor that winds the wire and create tension that way. This is confusing to explain.

From this description, I would say the window came loose from the support bar. One way you may get it to reseat is to hold the window in place while it is in the up position and then use the power window switch to lower the support bar. If the window has come away from the support bar, it should not move. Sometimes (by trial and error) you can find a sweet spot where the bar will mate backup with the window. If this happens you might be ablle to reseat the window by raising all the way to the closed position.

I am having the same problems, I am about to take apart the door and see if I can fix this I will attempt to take pictures and hopefully I can figure this out, wish me luck.

Bad news, theres no bar in the window, worse news is that the problem described above is probably very similar to my problem.

I forgot to take my camera with me to the shop but try to imagine this. Attached to the motor is what I would describe as a fishing reel. Basically it is a thick wire wrapped around a plastic reel, it was at this point I knew I was screwed. The wire in my reel was completely bunched up an to make maters worse it was frayed. If anyone knows where I can get one of these reels and wire please let me know otherwise my window is stuck in the halfway position. At least theirs covered parking where I live!

your regulators are broken. normally the wire is guided by plastic clips and the reel is plastic. if the guide clips or the reel breaks a little the coil unravels. we replace these at work all the time. i wouldnt recommend you trying to replace it yourself because frameless windows have the most complicated guiding systems, compared to framed doors where the window just goes up the side rails. it isnt very costly to repair. it all depends on the price of the part. i havent done a lex regulator in a long time but im guessing the part would be around $80-$150. take it to a auto glass company and they should install for around $100. if you have it done at dealer it will be about twice the price.
