Symptoms: Overheating at idle, overheating during long drive.
Some of my fixes: Head gasket, themostat, radiator cap, p/s pump, fan switch, radiator sensor, and etc..
After these fixes, I still have the same problem until I fixed my instrument cluster needle. I have been driving for the last month and none of the symptoms came back. ???
I want to post this because I want you guys to avoid these costly repairs. I've paid for it already but I want to help you guys.
Question: Is your instrument cluster (speedomeder needle) dead or delayed during your drive?
If so, I think I've found the problem.
Fixes: Go to an electronic store and see if they can solder the worn parts on the cluster. They know what you mean by this.
What I think is the problem? Lexus created a fan sensor that is controlled by the speed of the speedometer needle. If your needle is dead, then the fan thinks that your engine is off and will not spin properly.
I will update you guys again if I am wrong since I drive my car everyday for work putting my car on harsh condition such as long drive and idling with at least 150 miles per day.
Thanks,
Steve

What type of engine coolant did you use & I assume its brand new fluid with the correct mixture? I'd also look at the fan itself, water pump & all hoses. Are you leaking any coolant?
