Hello everyone I have been having starting issues with my 02 ES300 for the past month. It started intermittent at first , but now it will not start at all. I have linked a video below that shows what is happening. It won't start with a jump from another vehicle or jump pack. I put in a new battery and still same issue. I replaced the starter relay , since that was a $5 part. I have checked all fuses and none are blown. Tapping on the starter also does not help. It will not even crank , it just does clicking sound. Please let me know if you guys have any ideas.
Post a picture of your battery terminals. Going by your video (very helpful) there is a flaky connection from the battery to the car. If the starter was bad you would not be getting the flicker-out effect on the cluster you'd turn the key and nothing would happen.
When I replaced the battery , I checked the ground cable going to the bottom of the battery tray and it was perfectly clean and tight. No corrosion. I wasn't able to see the positive end connections or the other ground cable that goes to the block.
That generic positive terminal is suspect to say the least, to be blunt that style terminal is crap. I can't tell from your picture if the original lug is still on the wire (I think so) if so replace the terminal with 90982-05054 you can find generic versions of the Toyota part on Amazon. Are they as good as from Toyota? Probably not but I bought a couple they seemed fine to me no issues. Here is a set notice the serrations this ensures proper contact your positive terminal doesn't have this.

That's an expensive set of terminals, in this case a Genuine OEM Terminal I think would be a better option as you still have the Negative Terminal intact, here is a good place to get one.
That said, before getting any of the Terminals listed, make sure that the Factory Ring Terminals attached to the Positive Terminal are all intact, there should be more than one of them, otherwise you will either have to crimp the New Ring Terminals, or move to a different style of the Terminal.
???? Your link would be about the same price for two, before shipping.
Yes, but you are getting a Genuine terminal as opposed to an aftermarket roulette, and you only really need one terminal in this case, as the Negative terminal on those cars is Crimped in place and is not replaceable, even though it was in the Previous Generation. What prompted that decision, I have no idea..
The reason I mentioned the cost is that I distinctly remember getting both of my terminals right from the local dealership for about $25 not so long ago..
