Just incase anyone is interested, found this while searching for a solution to my seat heating problem.
if any one can shed somelight on the situation - it would be appreciated, seems like now both of my seats have died.

1997 - 2001 Lexus ES300
a revised suspension support was designed to eliminate front suspension noise on washboard-type surfaces (SU002-99, Dec. '99);
new brake pads were designed to eliminate groaning, grinding, squeaking or vibrating conditions of the original equipment (BR001-99, March '99);
a "popping" noise from the rear, especially when turning left or right at low speeds may trace to the "V-Brace" weld nut and bolt torque (BO005-97, July '97);
cross connected electrical connectors for the seat heater will result in seat heaters not operating (EL001-97, June '97);
a rattle noise from the moon roof sliding rail assembly may be evident (BO004-97, May '97).

For your situation, this should be proof enough that the seat heaters in your '97 ES are inoperative. If you bring this list with the "seat heater" item highlighted in front of a service advisor at a Lexus dealership, you can probably get the seat heaters repaired or replaced at minimal or no charge.
