2002 Lexus ES300 check engine light
I recently purchased the 2002 Lexus ES300 it had set for about a year before I got it. Anyway the check engine light came on after filling gas tank it wasn't on before that the lights that were on was the track off and the VSC light that were on constantly and wouldn't go off later I found a button for the track off and pushed it it went off and when I started it it was off until I put it in any gear to drive and then they both stay on the check engine light is not on any longer. My son found that I need at least the top motor mount up by the firewall toward the back, the motor mount upper dog bone engine mount torque strut front right mount he is going to replace it I don't know if that can be causing the track off and the VSC light to be on does anyone know of it could or if that is a totally separate problem than the motor mount.

Hello,
Not nearly enough information.
First of all, you will have to pull up the Fault Codes stored in the ECU, which are the reason for the Check Engine Light to appear. Go to any major Car Parts Store in the area, they have equipment to pull up said Codes for free, and then post them here. Without the Codes, we will be just as well pointing at the sky..
Hope this helps and best of luck!

The code that came up was p0440 a fault in the evaporative emission system for predetermined period of time. The place told me that I needed to replace the evaporative emissions canister for $550 something dollars, for the part. Now a day and a half later since I had it checked the check engine light went off. I have been hearing some clicking sounds like it's up toward the firewall sounds like it's either in the middle or on the passenger side of the car when I pull in my driveway. I was wondering if bad tires could be causing the track off and the VSC like to be on there's also a headlight beam level light on when I turn my headlights on.

I don't know for sure, but if your 2002 ES300 is anything like my 2000 model, VSC Light will always come On together with the Check Engine Light, regardless of the fault stored in the System, literally any code, no matter how severe, would trigger Both lights at the same time, probably to make your life just that much more exciting I guess, as I never managed to come up with a more reasonable answer..
In short, if the VSC Light comes On and Off together with the Check Engine Light, and the Scan Tool didn't pick up any other Codes, it's safe to Disregard it until you find the cause for the Check Engine Light.
P0440 indicates a Leak in the EVAP System. The EVAP is purely there for the Environmental Regulations, it doesn't have any effect on the Driveability of the car, its task is to not allow Fuel Vapors to escape from the Tank and into the Atmosphere, thereby causing less Air Pollution, the Code that you have indicates that the EVAP System was breached, causing the Vapors to vent Outside. This is one of the trickier Codes to diagnose, as there is only One code to cover the entirety of a pretty complex system System, which has a number of moving parts, and a lot of connections located in a pretty nasty environment.
Start by checking All the hoses you can see around the Tank and under the Hood, see if you have any that are Visibly Damaged, or if some parts are missing, also check for Rust on the Lines, see if it's bad enough to cause a leak. Next step would be to inspect the Filler Cap, the Seal on it tends to dry out, turning into Plastic, causing it to leak, if that's the case, get a New OEM one, Part Number for it is 77300-33070, here is a good place to get it. If none of that will help, you will have to find a Mechanic with a Smoke Machine to track down the Leak, otherwise it will be like trying to find a shape-shifting needle in a proverbial haystack.
The Sounds that you hear can quite literally be anything, it's borderline impossible to know what it could be without seeing the car in person, or at least hearing the Sound in question, a Video would be helpful. Seeing that it's a 20 year old car, probably with quite the mileage and not a stellar service history, it likely needs a good service for Suspension and Brakes, while Toyotas are tough, they are not indestructible and require periodic maintenance.
Hope this helps and best of luck!

My 2002 ES300 has a CEL also. When I got the car it had all kinds of evap codes. It also smelled like gas really bad outside the car even when parked and turned off. I ended up pulling the fuel tank. There were some seals that were leaking vapors quite a bit. They are all replaced now. I even bit the bullet on the evap canister. It was about $450 and a total PITA to replace. I also replaced the fuel cap with an OEM Toyota cap. I still occasionally get some fuel vapor smells but it is WAY less than before. And after all that my stupid CEL is still on. It now says I need catalytics. Those cost more than I paid for the car. So electrical tape over the light it is for now.......
Your 2002 may have an evap vent solenoid switch or purge flow that went out, instead. Mine did on my 96 ES300.
Check your vac hoses from and to the switch on top of the cannister, too. They may be splitting.
