engine mounts at 90k
I have been experiencing the idle vibration for a little while now. Since I do all of my own work I decided to go ahead and change the top (dog bone) engine mount and the front (active) engine mount. Had to disassemble a bit more than I initially thought for the front mount, but man what a difference. My vibration at idle is gone, and the engine noise in the cabin is quieter.
There were no indications other than the vibration. Engine did not move excessively between gears, nor was there any visible damage. After trying everything else (tune-up, trans fluid and filter, pcv, MAF etc) I decided to change the mounts. At least I could rule them out and know they were good for another 90k.
If you have the vibration and want to try this, do not use aftermarket parts! Anything rubber (mounts, suspension, bushings etc) should always be Toyota.
Hope this helps.
