Default Vehicle Speed Sensor

I'm getting the error code of P0500 which indicates a bad vehicle speed sensor. I've seen multiple videos trying to figure out how to do it myself. But some videos are.replacing parts that look different. Some sensors have a toothed plastic gear while others have magnets. I'm.very confused as to what to do. Any suggestions?

Hello,

Here is a recent thread about a similar issue.

Your 1999 ES was a Transition model, old car with new engine, so I am not sure if it came with a Geared sensor that you mentioned. The easiest way to tell would be to look at the Back of the transmission, if you will see a 3-pin connector, that would be your speed sensor.

Hope this helps and best of luck!
