Default Kyb or tokico shock absorbers for the es330

My shocks are due for replacement, and oem shocks are a bit pricey. I am thinking of aftermarket shocks. Basically, i am considering two aftermarketshock brands. KYB or TOKICO. I heard that the KYB shocks are a bit stiffer than the oems and TOKICO's are a bit softer. Not really sure though. I wanna hear it from you guys though. Does anyone advice KYB over TOKICO or vice versa? And btw i am looking for a shock with a smooth ride or very close to the oems. I dont fancy sporty shocks.

Thanks!

KYB is def stiffer (15%-30%) but it makes car handle a lot better. As for comparing to Tokico, i cant say much as i never used them, could also look for Sachs.

Tokico is an OEM supplier to Toyota and Lexus. Your original ones may be Tokico.

Lexus provides specs to the OEM the aftermarket part from the same OEM can (and usually does) have completely different specs/valving. Put another way the aftermarket part is made to a lower price point.

I don't suggest those TOKICO's at all! The ride is REALLY stiff now! I suggest you go for KYB's if available.

reviving an old thread. 92 SC400 Tokico's with lowering springs all 4 corners. One of the rears is leaking and replacements are tough to find locally I'd like a similar ride to the Tokico's, not stiffer. RockAuto is offering KYB, Sachs, and Monroe. Does nayone know which is closest to the Tokico's and if they work with lowering springs?
