Brake backing plate dust shield
#2
Jesus. All the prices I see are $200+. You might be better off visiting your local junkyard and seeing if there are any viable plates there. Disassembling two hubs (which I can only imagine being pretty difficult) for a used part versus paying $400 for some new ones. Good luck, man.

Rip it off and be done with it. I removed the rear drivers side 2 years ago on my 2000 ES. No biggie. Rear passenger side is hanging on by a thread. Makes a god awful noise when it brakes loose and gets hung up in the wheel (but still partially attached!).

I took both my rears off when the backing plates rusted and started to screech when rubbing on the rotor. I didn't replace then. That was a year ago and I haven't seen or heard anything unusual with the brakes since then. Frankly, with an 03 I would just pull them off and leave it.
