Default Hollow clunking sound at front passenger side

1997 ES300

I have a hollow clunking sound on the road and highway-- at any speed. Notably when I'm going over bumps but it doesnt have to be anything dramatic. Just road unevenness or whatever.

My torque strut mount was severely worn so I thought it was that.. but while the engine movement and noise during shifting went away, the hollow clunk is still there.

I'm thinking it's a lower motor mount, but might it be anything else? I presume this is a fairly common issue but google is failing me. Perhaps the front strut mount?

After checking those links, the upper strut mount is the next suspect for suspension clunking. But your case sounds like end links, mounts are less oftern and more bump-driven.

Mounts usually show up as felt vibration or shift harshness, nothing constant.

I replaced struts and mounts before figuring out I needed $40 pair of sway bar links! And the Mechanic that did my struts said the links looked fine...
Be careful not to strip the end that needs a hex tool to hold while you ratchet the bolt out, or you'll need a sawzall to cut it off like me!

Mine also started to clunk with new links, just had to re-torque passenger side and that took care of it..
