did you repair or replace the tranny. I ask because I had mine repaired at 200K, the car is otherwise good , wondering how long would this tranny last.

[QUOTE=punkyrules;562214]I am considering purchasing a used ES 300 that has about 50,000 or so miles on it. It will most likely be a 97 or 98 model. Does anyone know how long, in terms of mileage, these cars last until maintenance costs become significantly expensive?

I am looking for a reliable vehicle that will last a long time. I can get a Honda Accord that has half as many miles for a much cheaper price. So, I am trying to figure out how long an ES 300 will last. If it lasts long enough, than it will justify the added cost. My desire is that it will drive reliably with little problems up until at least 110k.

Hello,

110,000 miles is still basically within warranty period, any halfway descent car will make it there with no major issues. Accord is a different class of cars, it is more comparable to Camry, ES is a little higher in trim level, hence a different price. The choice will depend on what is it that you need, and what is available, if you are trying to compare Accord to ES, then probably the latter would not be your go-to.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

I have to finally let go of my 2003 Lexus ES300. Didn't pass smog, have multiple code error which indicates multiple problems. It still runs very smooth, but paints are fading and peeling. Cost too much to fix to pass smog, so I traded it. Final milage 256k, original engine, radiator, tranmission. .... bye bye my reliable "friend" of 20 years, we have gone through an adventurous life journey together..

Default High flying mileage

Greetings earthlings
I have an 02 ES300 that a former client gave to me about, five years ago. I was going to just sell it and buy another Jag. But I decided to drive it for a while and now I'm going own it until it blows up. I currently have about 303,000+ miles on it. I've replaced the, ahhh, cat converts, water pump, radiator, alternator, had the front rotors turned, and, rear pads, and just recently, knock sensors. For the last year or so I've been running straight E85 ethol alcohol. I lose a bit in power but I love not buying oil company fuel. I expect it to run out to about 400,000.

Bought my 2003 ES300 in 2015 with 277,xxx miles on the odometer. Just turned over 380,000 last week. I'm hoping to get to 400,000. Most comfortable car I've ever owned.

I got 2002 ES300 in 2020 and it had 319K KM or a bit under 200K miles. It's still going strong since as a daily driver. The previous owner added a backup camera and an android screen interface to modernize it. To be perfectly honest with those add-ons the car is just as good as many more modern cars imo.
