1998 ES300 Intermittent Rough Idle & Stall At Running Temp
Ok, First Post
I've read through a lot of posts on this subject but ive hit a wall of sorts,
Car. 1998 Lexus ES300 160,000 Miles
About once a month or so after the car hits running temp (usually after a short highway trip) getting off the highway as the car slows to a stop the idle will be very rough. Last night the engine stalled completely for the first time, Typically if i put the car in neutral and rev the engine to high RPM's once or twice this will get rid of the issue. However last night when shifting into neutral the engine stalled. i sat for a minute or two and the engine started up, ran rough i revved to 5000 RPM's and all was well. Until this morning when it happened again when i got off the highway same issue. No Check engine light, However the ABS light is on and the TRAC OFF light is flashing
Steps i have taken:
Dismantled and thoroughly cleaned entire throttle body and IAC Valve
Replaced Air Filter
Checked Vacuum pressure between EGR and Charcoal canister Only 3 or 4 in HG (Which im told would mean a faulty EGR vacuum modulator) However there is no vacuum modulator on the 1998 model.
With engine off i applied vacuum directly to EGR (Held Vacuum)
With engine running i applied vacuum directly to EGR **(Engine Sputtered) which to my understanding means the EGR is working properly}
Applied vacuum to middle port on VCV with outter port plugged (Held pressure)
Applied vacuum to outter ports on both VSV's which activated and released vacuum pressure when 12v were applied to terminals.
Ive decided to replace the VSV that is first in line after the EGR and charcoal canister anyways (im to the point of throwing parts at this thing)
Any help would be appreciated and if anyone needs any additional info please let me know and i will post immediately,
I am mechanically inclined and do have tools, (I work for a custom motorcycle shop)

Maybe your IAC valve is bad? I have cleaned mine twice when having symptoms like yours. There is a procedure to check it or you could just replace it.
I don't think the ABS or TRAC OFF are an indication of the engine problem. But they could have a common cause.
