Default '95 ES 300 CD changer issues

I got a disc cartridge and put some CDs in it. I put the cartridge in and went for a drive. When I selected the CD changer, I got the below error after it making sounds that made me think it was about to work.

Any thoughts?

Since you did not specify, my reply is based on the assumption that your equipment is the original Lexus system that came with you car.

There are basically 3 potential causes, as follows:

1) You inserted the CDs upside down in the Cartridge.

2) You recorded your own CDs using MP3 format, (or a similar format). The original Lexus system in you car reads ONLY standard Audio Formats CDs. Try a standard commercial CD. and see if that works.

3) Your CD changer or cartridge is defective

I appreciate the response. Yes, the standard Lexus stereo with the Lexus CD changer. The CDs are not CDRs and I am pretty sure I had them in correctly. Is there a known fix or known issues with this changer?

It will accept and eject the cartridge. I have not completely filled the cartridge, but I did move the CDs I was using to different slots within the cartridge. Maybe I should try filling it.
