Default drifting w/ the es300!

some cars are made to drift like an ae86 trueno or altezza. and then, there's the es. front-wheel drive, auto, soft suspension, and best of all... that stupid foot-brake! i dunno how many people actually try to "drift" their es300 so thats why im making this thread i was able to drift my es300 during the snow blizzard. i say drift, others would say *** dragging. i speed up to about 25, take foot off gas b/c there's no point puttin power to the front wheels, make a quick right, slam on the foot brake, counter-steer, and drfit! it was the most pathetic drift! my dad's toyota previa is a joy to drift in the snow. that car wont even go straight! get carried away and you'll end up doing a 360 spin!

ahh yes the mention of a foot-brake almost made me think. the first gen ES300 had a handbrake.
so it's not too hard to slide the rear with the ES. no need for the foot to do eatra stuff. foot can be waiting in case of too much spin.

i was sliding sideways during my accident very fast!! that's for sure...the tire marks are still there to prove it, 4 months later!!!!!!!!!! it's not a drift though, cuz drifts are controlled!

E-brake slides are really nothing to be proud of. You'll only be kicking yourself later down the road if you accidentally lose total control of your car, or damage your brake components. Like Rena said, a drift is a controlled action...e-brake slides are not.

oh wait, i know someone who did this last month. If you actually knew this guy's car, you'd be REALLY amazed that he was able to roll it over, since it was an AE92(?), lowered and everything. NOT GOOD and quite painful!

no offense flipside909, u wouldnt know jack how it is to drift in the snow! im guessing your somewhere from pomona, ca or somewhere around there since i recognize that area code. anyone who tries to drfit a front wheel drive auto on dry pavement is an idiot b/c it's damn near impossible. drifting in wet streets require higher velocities and dangerous to do. i tried it on an empty parking lot with a foot of snow doin 15mph.

Obviously you don't know where i've been or where i've driven before so really, you don't know jack about me or where i've been...using "your terms". Just because you recognize an area code doesn't mean you know where i'm from nor know what my background is. Your guess on where I live is wrong.

Wait a minute...if you think about it...who are the real idiots? People drifing a FWD in any situation? That's really something to be proud of? That's pretty wreckless, stupid and pointless...period. Don't complain here on the forums when you roll you car into the curb or a ditch. We'll have the last laugh. Okay Jose?

Drifting and ES300 in the same sentence?!?!
Man i thought i was the only crazy *** dude that does drifting in the ES300...
I have a 1998 ES300 and i have found a way to use the E-Brake without it locking it in the down position... and boy was it fun... although my AE86 was alot better at drifting... but it was garaged during winter...
If there is enough snow for drift i'll take some pics if i can ...

...lolz...ya'll so funny.

#1 i have a 93 es with the handbrake...=)....and it's a 5 spd too...
#2 i drift in it all the time...mostly in big empty parking lots at night, or wherever...gotten pretty good at controlling it. (not at high speeds though)
#3 it's probably considered more of a powerslide, rather than a drift.
#4 you CAN drift, or powerslide in a FF. it's all about utilizing the e-brake. it'z a practiced style in japan, as is all type of drifting, in all types of cars.

o yeah....and i always drive in da snow cuz, i'm up at school in albany, and it's been snowin here like crazy. so you could alwayz catch me havin fun in big empty parking lots, empty roads, and makin nice 90 degree turns wit the e-brake, and some countersteering.

well i can drift, burn out, and do 180s with the car, but..... of course none of that is safe. so anyway, i dont do it often. and flipspeed, just because you see that someone is from california, doesnt mean that they dont ever drive in snow. i mean they could have lived in colorado or something for 10 years.... oh yeah, and it does snow in california too.

Hey, drifting in snow might be cool too, but out in southern Cali we have some pretty amazing (dry) drift runs. And the D1 pros in Japan, as we all know, drift day and night, uphill, downhill, with or without slick pavement. *ahhhhh* and they do it with such grace, too. So....being from California doesn't mean we don't know drifting or snow!!

but really flipspeed, you can't judge people just by where they live. they may live in different places, but it doesn't mean they haven't been somewhere else, or experience extreme weather either.

Default I just drive

I think drifting might be fun, but I'm to cautious of my car. I had to replace a master b/c on my acura because I drove like a nut. That was expensive so I know the lex would be even more for any damage to my brake system. Either way, to each is his/her own. Its your car, drive how ever the !!!! you want.
