Default Oil analysis report - 00ES 245k miles

I just did the oil analysis on my ES. I used Wix kit that was purchased from Amazon.

Miles : 245k miles
Oil type : Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Syn 5w-30
Filter : Pennzoil HPZ-21 Platinum filter

Oil history on this vehicle:
Till around 90 -100k miles, did the oil changes at Lexus/Toyota dealerships. Later switched briefly to Castrol high mileage oil. Based on BITOG forum postings, switched to Mobil high mileage full synthetic 5w-30 till last oil change.

Only once used Pennzoil Ultra and this oil report is based on that oil. Didn't notice difference between M1 and Pennzoil Ultra on this car. However, simultaneously I changed GX oil with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and could able to see how smooth the engine while driving. At cold start-ups GX purrs like kitten with Penn Ultra.

Did oil analysis on my 2012 LS which can be found at : https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...ml#post9103908

That looks pretty good.

We have an 02 with 240k on it and it has been using PPP 5w-30 (not ultra) and M1 5w-30 HM back and forth the last year. Like you, I can not tell a difference in them; Behavior is the same and so is consumption. Both use about 1/2 qt. between 7.5k OCI in summer and slightly more in (our mild) winter. The OC history was similar to yours and it did not start getting full synthetic until higher mileage. I settled on the M1 HM based on the HM add pack but honestly can't say I can quantify in any way a real difference.

You results look good, with a lot of miles left I think on that oil.

The additives left are huge, and the TBN is still good. I'd go 7.5k (as we do) if I were you.

Thanks Oro on the assessment. This is the first time I have done oil analysis on this car. As you said, I might increase the OC interval may be to 6K. If I were to go with 7.5K interval, should I go with extended performance filter?. Will regular filter holds good through 7.5K miles?.

This ES series, I believe is a true testimony of Toyota/Lexus reliability/quality. Still my favorite daily driver car. Fortunately so fat I didn't have to add oil in between oil changes. Only once in the past 15 years oil dipstick showed below lower mark and added 1/2 qt.

For this oil analysis report I had used Pennzoil HPZ-21 Platinum filter.

However, I was using OEM filter up until around 100k miles. Then I switched to Purolator pure one for most of the time.

I use either a Wix or Denso (OEM). Both are really stout filters and will easily do 7.5k. The expensive EP filters I would use if I were going 10 to 15k I think; that's what they recommend those for. Actually if I were doing that would I would do is change the filter at 7.5k with the same ones I am using, to be honest.

The Denso filters are inexpensive at RockAuto or at most dealers. Wix is easy to find at Napa as their "gold" filter. I have cut each open and they look good at 7.5k.

Interesting. I have an 00 Es also. Got it last year with about 91,000 miles and I'm at 110 now. I change the oil every 5-6k miles and use OEM filters with Mobil 1 Synthetic oil. Should I switch it up!?

I do not think there's a real reason to do so. The M1 HM is great, and you can't say the PP is better (or worse). I settled on it for the HM additive package and price/convenience of the 5qt jugs at WalMart. But if another quality oil suits you, no reason not to try it.

Depending on how you drive, longer intervals are ok. If lots/majority short trips, 5 to 6k is good. Ours is 90% highway so I go 7.5k.

I am not sure you meant M1 non-HM syn or high mileage syn. I have been using M1 High mileage syn on my ES and GX for long time and it works well for me. No leaks or oil consumption (adding oil in between oil changes), so far.

Read lots of reviews about PP Ultra Platinum and trying on all three vehicles, For ES I will go back to M1 HM syn - can't justify cost differential. GX seems to like PP Ultra Platinum. Haven't driven much on LS with PP to make a conclusion.
