'01 ES 300 DRL's
So I recently removed the stock halogen DRLs and put in some 80w 6000k LED bulbs in place of them. However, they don't work, after some fidiling ( replacing bulbs with stock / new 80w bulbs and vice versa ) i was only able to get one DRL to work. After several failed attempts, the DRL's do not work entirely with the original stock halogens and the new 80w LED's. The High beam function works on the LED's as of now, but not the DRLs ( DRL and High beam share same bulb) Did I blow a fuse? Thanks

Hello, and welcome to Club Lexus! For LED DRL bulbs to properly function in a Lexus you will need Load resistors since the default setting for the ES is to run the bulbs at partial power, which is why the LED's won't light because the car is confused.
For my ES' DRL's to sucessfully run I needed a standard wiring harness from the battery to one side and a standard resistor to the other. Below is a link to some, but other car part sites will carry different variations as well.

this whole time i thought the bulb was a dual output/intensity bulb. i never thought it was just pushing partial power output with the DRL's. thanks for the input and link.
my question (lol); can i use HID's in place of the DRL's or will the same issue occur?

I suppose you could use and HID kit in place of the LED's, but those would be too bright in my opinion, and the LED's would give off a more crisp DRL output, nicely filling the headlight housing with proper light. However you wouldn't lose the ability to utilize your high beams if you used HID.
