Default Air bag light blinking ... on weird occasions

If I start my 1998 ES300 in the morning WITHOUT sitting in it (to get the heat going before work) and THEN sit in it, the airbag light doesn't come on. If someone sits in the car first (like me or passengers), THEN I start it up, the airbag light blinks.

I can usually repeat this process regularly (but once in a while the light will blink regardless of whether someone is in the car before I start it.).

This happened last Nov and the dealer couldn't get a code to determine the problem so they turned the light off. Now it's happening again and I don't want to spend the $120 for them to hook it up to the diagnostic machine just to get another "NO CODE".

Help!

Thanks!

I'd start by looking at the connectors under the seats, particularly the one with the yellow connector for the airbag.

Disconnect the battery and after 15 mins, disconnect the wire, clean the contacts, put some die electric grease to help conduction, and reinstall them. Make sure they're tight and free of the sliding seat mechanism.

By the air-bag light, I assume you mean the one on the instrument cluster and not the one for the passenger, correct?

Sorry .. yes, you are correct. It's the one on the instrument cluster.
I'll take a look for the yellow connector you mentioned and try to make sure they're not the problem like you said.

Thanks!
