Default Cassette adapter for 98 ES300

I was quite disappointed that there's no aux on 98 ES300 radio. So the only way to connect Ipod is cassette adapter. I've been checking cassette adapters but there's not really reliable one after reading all reviews. I will probably go with Maxwell, Sony or Philips but I would like to ask ES300 owners if there's adapters that fit well with ES300 radio.

For less than $200 you can have a unit with aux input and all the modern goodies have you considered this option?

For a while I need to go with good old stock radio because of low budget , after saving some money I would like to consider that option, please give me more details. Music is so important for me, sometimes I take long way to work just because listening more music

Browse sonicelectronix.com or crutchfield.com to name a couple.

I am all for keeping stock head units. There are generic aux ins that are essentially fm transmitters that wire in in between the antena wire and the hole in the back of any radio. They sound as good as the clearest radio station. Which is good enough. Or, they make manufacturer specific ones that use the "am/sat" of "aux" buttons on factory head units if applicable. Check eBay. Do the work your self. It's not hard

Thanks Lexus2000, I will check both. I could get a deal especially this time of year.

Thanks acarapella, you basically mean dealing with cables back of the radio right? I've read that too, seemed a little complicated for me as an amateur

Any generic cassette adapter will work. I bought one from Walmart years ago, and it still works great.

At least try when I got my first nice car (a pearl white two tone 1999 Camry xle) I was afraid to do anything. I remember paying to have a stero put in (way easier in a Camry than an es) and once having a headlight changed. That was 10 years ago this month, now I tear into almost everything my self - just from having confidece and trying. We own a 1950 Chevy, and I have put $130 into it since I bought it. It would have been $2,000 had I paid someone else to do things like rebuild wheel cinders for the drum breaks or diagnose and fix bent pushrods in the engine.

YouTube is your friend - now-a-days many folks videotape thier work and post it. Watching someone else do it makes it easier for you to do.
You can do it! Just try worst case you mess up and it costs roughly the same to have set right as it would have to just do

All cassette adapters seem to go bad after a while. I just buy several cheap ones and throw them out when they stop working.

I bought this on Feb 15, 2014 and it's still working till this day.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002DW92IE
In my 99 es 300 if you press the 1 or 2 (can't remember which one) while the stereo is set to cassette, you will see a D followed by a B on the stereo LCD. If you press it again the B will change to a C. This mode cancels out the cassette noise so basically there isn't any and it sounds great. I didn't even know about the feature until a couple months ago.
