I have a 92 ES300, I few days ago I ordered Tokico Strut cartriges($65 each). Apparently for the 92 - 94's you can not replace the full strut, since they are rebuildable. I will stop back after I install them, and post the results. I will also be relacing the strut mounts (from NAPA aroung $50 each). Hopefully I will be getting it all by the end of thee week.

Yes 92-94 struts for your car are serviceable. Tokico has a specific part number for those years of VCV10 and MCV10

i've got a 92 ES with the same engine rattle and squeaky shocks problem. when i had my 18's on in the summer i noticed that the back tires would rub whenever i took sharp turns or had people in the back. i've got 171k on my Lex....would replacing the shocks cure this problem? i wanted to lower my car but im worried that my tires will just rub even worse. since my car has 171k on it im sure my suspension has seen better days. what difference should i see if i were to replace the shocks and possibly the struts as well?

I had the same problem with my 95, but my struts needed to be replace any how. So I did all with the Tokiko's. I have 18's too, but I still added the 1" drop from Eibach. Rubbing is still there, not more or less. Pretty much the same as before. Only difference is the ride. Much better now. To correct the problem, I believe a different rim and/or tire size would help, or a different offset. Or do what I do, don't let people ride in back! Just you and a chick! Makes sense.

The ES300 uses struts...not shocks. If you're 18's are rubbing even on stock height, you got the wrong width tire and offset. You can roll your fenders but it's just a matter of how wide your wheels stick out towards the fender lip. My suggestion to you, is either buy a new set of rims with the proper offset (preferably +38 to +45) and stay with a rim width from 7 to 7.5...8 is somewhat pushing it. If you were to replace your struts, that will not solve your rubbing problem sorry to say.

Here's my MCV20 on Tokico/Eibach combo with a +42 offset on 18x8 rims & 225/40WR18 tires. I do rub a little in the rear when i have passengers in the back.
