Default 95 es300 bypass hose

Can anybody provide me with step by step instructions for replacing the bypass hose underneath the intake manifold on a 95 es300?

Try this link http://www.findonefindall.com/toyota...ock_sensor.htm

It's for replacing knock sensors on a Sienna with the same engine. The hose is located near the knock sensors. In one of the pictures you can see the green antifreeze in one of the pipes where the hose is connected.

Buy the hose from your dealer before you start. There are other gaskets you may want to replace. You probably don't have to remove the wipers, wiper box and grill. I think those are specific to the Sienna.

Also if you do this, now would be a great time to replace the rear valve cover gasket and your spark plugs because you will have easy access to them.

Good luck.

Here's a link showing how to replace the rear valve cover gasket. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...placement.html You don't need to remove the valve cover. But it shows another way of getting access to the fuel intake (see first link) which needs to be removed in order to access the hose.

Thanks, I will gather the parts and dive in. I just got done doing my sons infiniti g20 with the same problem, that was a real pain to do. This one looks a bit easier.

don't have a link, but this exact issue was covered on these forums by someone. seem to recall he was working on a single mother's car with no money, etc.. and narrowed it down to this.

surprisingly, my '93 has a metal hose there, not rubber. but it is not uncommon and is a very big job to do. You might also want to consider knock sensors since you'll be there. they are buried that deep aswell. ...or not...there is another, easier way to bypass knock sensors if you have that problem later,

The 93 ES300 has the 3VZ-FE engine and has a metal bypass line. The 95 ES300 has the 1MZ-FE engine and has a bypass hose. Also the 3VZ-FE engine more frequently has knock sensor problems. As Canucklehe noted, some people have relocated the knock sensors on cars with the 3VZ-FE engine. The 1MZ-fe engine has significantly fewer knock sensor problems. Doubtful you would have to relocate you knock sensors.

The hardest part of this job is removing and re-installing the intake plenum. The plenum usually needs to be removed in order to replace the rear spark plugs (some contortionists can replace them with the plenum in place) and to replace the rear valve cover gasket. If you are going to be working on your car, you might as well get used to removing it. It would be best if you had a repair manual. I saw someone recently posted a link to the 97 repair manual. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...ir-manual.html Your 95 should be very similar to the 97.

i know 92-96 have a lot of similar parts, is 97 that close that I could use the manual on my 93 ?

I remember in the other thread the poster said he had to get the OEM hose. I remember I commented about using generic jobber hose, but the diameter was a bit different, or the slight angle, and he tried to use aftermarket hose and it didn't work. long story short....before you start tearing it down, you might first want to make sure dealer has hose in stock so your car isn't in pieces for 5 days while they backorder it.

I think in this case it's best to use an OEM hose because it has a slight bend in it. I'd guess a generic hose could be made to work but personally I bought the OEM hose after looking at the generic options.

I concur with canucklehe, buy the hose before you tear into this job.

I don't know if the 97 manual would work on a 93 ES300. I know the engine is different. Not sure about anything else. 1994 was the year in which the 1MZ-FE engine was introduced on the ES300.

Thanks for your input guys, I'll be tearing into it this weekend. But from the looks of it, it does seem a lot less detailed than the g20 was. Hopefully I won't run into any snags.
