I think form fitting mud flap/spash guards might enhance the look, which is why I asked to see if anyone had any experience with them. Now I am second thinking my original idea.

I recently tried to locate molded mud guards for my 2002 ES and came up empty. Back in 2004 I found nice, color-matched painted front and rear guards for my 2004 Camry, on EBay. They looked sharp, were installed using existing screws, and kept road tar, etc., off the flanks of the car.

Aha! I remember being in El Paso in ‘66 when Left Coast homemade sheet metal “rockguards” (modestly done) were the rage and unheard of back East. In fact upon moving back to Georgia with them on my ‘68 Charger RT and cruising the drive-ins, they caught on there and soon many had them. Painted them silver (chrome was too gaudy) while some painted the backside the color of their car. And they kept the quarter panels free from rock chips, road tar, bubble gum, road kill and the rest of the junk that collects there.
So, get back with us on this project. I looked at your link and would probably trim them a tad further and paint the backsides to match my paint.
