Default Knock sensors

Is there a way to check if a next sensor is good? I have a 93 Lexus es300 and i was getting a code 55 i opened up and switched out both knock sensors now i'm getting a code 52. could it be because i didnt change out the wiring harness or could it still be the knock sensor? which sensor is the left bank sensor? I was told by a mechanic that was the sensor code 52 brings up, is there away to check the wiring harness?

I am feeling your pain x100. I have exact same year car. Been chasing my knock sensor code problem like a man possessed, and I have posted a topic on here aswell. A search on this forum should find it. If you can't find my topic, i will post a link for you. There is an even better link below for you. I disagree with the info you got from mechanic that code 52 means left bank.

In the link below, BMR posted about a resistance test, but that test produced nothing for me. Eric the car guy has a similar knock sensor youtube video where a Subaru manual told him to check for resistance and both the old and new sensors showed the exact same infinity reading. I posted another link in that topic (about page 3 of the topic) for a guy that gives a test procedure for the Lexus knock sensor. He explains these are resonance kncok sensors and to get the car to run lean and check for AC voltage. Yep AC, not DC. Anyways, you'll see it.

I am still dumbfounded with mine. ANOTHER person posted a fix to bypass the sensor. I believe it is in the same link. My car still has a bit of sputter in mid range and doesn't seem to run as good as my exact same other 1993 ES300. My mechanic thinks I have a fuel issue where it leans out and is thinking injector. I've swapped many other parts already from my good running car.

PLEASE WHEN YOU SOLVE YOUR'S...POST A FINAL FIX.

Eric later amended that video admitting that he screwed that test up, as he had his meter set to an autorange setting which did not read high enough to read the actual resistance. (which was incredibly high like 2.5 M℧) Just wanted to point that out.

great point and thanks for that. so exactly which setting do I put my cheap meter on? I tried all 4 of the resistance settings and never seemed to show anything other than 1. Do i need a fancier meter? this meter has served me well reading ACV, DCV, continuity, etc..

I would start with your highest setting, for this car it would seem you need a meter that will read well above 1 M℧

i looked on ebay for a FSM. there appeared to be several, for different functions/areas of the vehicle. and i was surprised by how expensive they are. would be nice to find one on dvd, like all the other manuals I own.

is there a lot more info on the entire knock sensor test procedure? I'd really like to get mine sorted out.

thanks!

There's a magnet link for a torrent I just made, so it might be kinda slow. (also, forgive me if it's not working, first time I've used magnet links.)

I originally downloaded mine from somewhere on this forum I do believe, but I couldn't find it again....
