I wrote a post yesterday , about a timing belt I changed. I wrote down the wrong trouble code . The correct trouble code should be P1346. I changed the timing belt twice , that code keeps coming up. A mechanic told me it could be a variable timing sensor close to the fire wall, which is bank one. How can you tell if that sensor is bad? What can you use to check it.

Most likely you are off a tooth on the cam closest to the fire wall. Did you make sure all your belt marks lined up correctly with the camshaft marks? When you put the automatic tensioner back in was all the slack removed between the 2 cams? If there was slack the cam will move when you put the tensioner in. Did you install a new tensioner?

(I removed the timing belt again. It looks like one tooth is off. I did not line the belt marks correctly. This time I did. These is third time removing belt and re-installing it. I did put a new tensioner. There is no slack. Write now , there are no codes coming up. There is the trac off and vsc light that is still on. I think I need to calibrate the car to get the lights to shut off. If the check engine light comes on again , with that same code (P1346) would it be the variable timing sensor?

If you are positive the belt is timed correctly, then that would be something to check.

Try disconnecting the battery for a while and see if the lights reset.

When I removed the battery cable . It did not work.
My timing belt is fine now.

I have the same issue. Ive had the P1346 for some time now and found out the timing was not set correctly. I then adjusted it, yet still have the code after clearing the codes. I replaced both OCVs already and cleaned both filters out. Whats the next step I should do?
