Correct tire pressure for 2000 ES300?
I own a 2000 Lexus ES300. Since purchasing the car in February I have followed the tire pressure indicated on the manufacturer's label - 26 psi front, 32 psi rear. I have the feeling (at least optically, have had comments from others on the pressure as well) that 26 looks a bit low.
Any recommendations/suggestions? has anyone had a similar experience? BTW - my tires are Firestone Firehawk GT P205/65R15.

I run 36 front and 34 rear. Front is heavier and needs more pressure in the tires. Max pressure (typically 44) is too much, rides like a buckboard and tends to wear the middle of the tires. Factory recommended sacrifices tire life for ride comfort. Staying in the 34-36 range is best mix of ride comfort, tire wear and fuel mileage.

I was about to create a thread then searched. I read my 2000 Es' manual and read the door jams. It says 26 and 32 so which is it? Discount Tire fills them to 35 but that just feels way to high and tight while driving. I guess 32 is a comfortable number for all 4?

I believe the 26psi recco reflects the late 90s heyday of cheap gas and desire for smooth Lexus ride. I could never bring myself to run any tire under 30 psi.
I run 36 myself, a little extra pressure improves handling and fuel economy at a small ride quality expense, within reason. Every tire is different so experiment for yourself. For example my summer tires are comparatively stiff no matter what pressure I run, whereas my winter tires which are quite a bit softer even pumped up to upper 30s.
