Smell of stale gas from underhood area 2ES
I have had an intermittent issue with a smell of stale gas (not a raw gas smell) on hot starts with my 1996. The smell would go away fairly quickly.
As of Friday, I am getting the stale gas smell most of the time, and the fuel mileage seems to have gone a bit south.
I would describe the smell as similar to the old days, when cars had charcoal canisters for emissions... when the canister would be blocked. I don't get any odour at the tailpipe or around the tank. No over-pressure in the tank.
I have been off in diesel-land for 18 years so my memory is a bit sketchy on gasser issues....
