Default what is this thing?

So I had my subs installed wednesday and of course my trunk is rattling now. I tried to locate where the rattle is coming from. I finally found the location of the rattle and it was coming from this thing which I don't know what it is really I just know it has to do with how the trunk lid opens and closes. its clear and on the inside looks like a wheel of some sort and when the bass notes hit it rattles a lot. I took a picture.

Does anyone know how to somehow take this apart and tighten it up somehow? it says do not open on the casing of whatever it is

I can't imagine that having anything to do with the torsion bar that helps the trunk open and close. Could it be the rear seatbelt winder? It's sort of hard to see where it is in the trunk with the image taken so close up. zoom out some.

wow dude, nothing should rattle that bad..... you know about hearing loss ? seriously, no joke, look it up, you'd be surprised what causes it.

I agree it could be some kind of seat belt thing... maybe for the child seat / tether system?

just a super shot in the dark, is that the thing for the antenna or the special suspension system or.... I would just check the FSM and look it up

where in the trunk is that even at ? more/better pics?

thats the seatbelt winder..theres prob a little metal ball in tehre doing the rattling.

that ball is tehre so when the car is cornering or braking hard, the seatbelts lock up

moral of my story, its the center seatbelt.

i had the same problem, what i did was put a vice grip on it, completely fixed it, but what else i found out is that if you put it on tight enough to stop the rattle it also stops the seat belt from working but no one ever uses the middle seat belt in mine so it wasnt a problem.

Either take out the center seat belt (nobody wants to sit there anyway) or just put a clamp around it, but be ready for rattle if you need to take 4 of your buddies home.
