Default Left pillar cover?

I have a pillar cover on the outside between the two left windows that has deteriorated. This is the black plastic vertical assembly separating the windows. Does anybody know if this is easy to replace and if so where would I get one?

Common problem, i think you can just pull it off and buy the part from your dealer for like 20 bucks if i remember correctly, others just sand it down and paint it

I found the part. Park Place Lexus has a diagram that shows two clips behind the molding. Does the molding just pull off? Or do I have to get behind and release the two clips shown in the diagram?

I have also found some pillar covers that stick on over the existing molding. Has anyone had any experience with these?

What I did on my SC was buy a piece of vinyl from a shop. Measured it and then cut it to shape and then put it on over the top. Worked a treat and I didn't get shiny gloss, but more of a flat black colour so it didn't "shine".

The advantages are that you can remove it when it's faded (which would take a long time) and replace it. It's cheaper that various other covers. Also as vinyl is thin it doesn't stand out or give extra width to the pillar.

Disadvantages are that you need to clean the surface properly so that the vinyl sticks (but that would be with any other cover), it can eventually peel (which is the same as most other adhesive covers) and when putting it on, you have to make sure that the air pockets (bubbles) are squeezed out from the backing.

Taking time to do it right works a treat, and it's a cheap and easy mod.
