Default Strange wiper problem

We recently had a pile of very wet snow which stayed on the winshield just where the wipers normally park when they are off, or at the bottom of thier wipe. I continued to drive the car with this stuff and the wipers constantly hit the mound of snow.
Nothing too unusual so far.
However, now that the snow is gone the wipers won't part in their original position. They sit about 1 inch higher than they should.
Obviously this is bugging me.
Any suggestions?

adjust them, not too hard. may require removing a nut. hopefully, nothing is messed up.

you're supposed to put the wipers in winter mode in the first place, naughty naughty !! :->

Yep, there is a "winter mode" for the wipers. It's in your owners manual.

Unfortunately, I got got the car used and no manual.
However, by doing a few googles I was able to find the instructions for lowering the wipers to "summer mode". Piece of cake.
Thanks

Its funny how this thread popped up now. I was just reading about the "Winter/summer" wiper modes in the manual 2 nights ago. Didn't believe it so went out to try..Walla! Wipers are now in the "retracted" position I don't think I'll be getting snow anytime soon...

hahaha - I didn't know there is a winter mode. I guess it'll be on my to do list for next yr. I do park my car in the garage though and I brush off the snow as much as I can so perhaps that's why I haven't run into any problems.

I didn't know about the winter mode either. Haven't had a a chance to read through the manual properly yet. Good pointer there!

I did'nt know about this either and have the same problem. I emailed my service department and this is what they said. i'll give it a try:

It
sounds as if your wiper blades are still in winter mode and you
probably
will not need an appointment. What you can do is press firmly on your
wiper
blades and they should retract and go back to the proper position. If
you
try this and it still doesn't work please contact me and I will put
your
appointment in the schedule. I understand your time is valuable and
wouldn't
want you to come here for a simple procedure you could do at home.
Thank you
Becca

Ok, I checked my manual and cannot find anything about winter mode with the wipers (2005 330). I also tried adjusting the wipers so they weren't so high up. One side, no problem, however, on the driver's side, when I adjust it down, the wiper doesn't sweep far enough to the right. Anyone got a suggestion on that and/or how to check for winter mode?

I've always just pushed them down in the summer and up in the winter. It is quite cool. 05'? I can't imagine why it wouldn't get full coverage.

yup i had the same problem but found out u can juss push them down but when u push one down the other has to go down also.......they are like that so when u wanna dry your car down when u wash it u can flip the wipers up and dry windshield.....when ur wipers are in regular mode it tucked in under the hood so u dont even see it when ur driving....pretty cool feature.......winter mode lmao wtf?

I did'nt bother to look in the manual, but I have an 05 ES330, and when the dealer emailed me to just push it down hard, (see my last post) I tried it and it worked. For getting back from winter to summer mode, you just need to push hard on the passenger side and both sides should pop down a notch. To go back from summer mode to winter you just pull up firmly. But they shoudl both move together. Sounds like you have some other problem going on. Whether I am in winter or summer mode , I get good sweep from both wipers. you seem to have something wrong.
