2000 ES300 Spark Plug Replacement
Hi,
I would like to replace the spark plug in my 2000 ES300, I could not find any DIY for this tune up project.
Anyone has done this and would like to share the experience ?
TIA,
Ching-Ho Cheng

Either get a flex shaft extinsion and a normal extinsion to reach behind it, or take the upper intake manifold off.
It's always adviseable to take the upper intake manifold off & clean it (to give more power back lost from carbon buildup), and give easy cleaning access to any EGR, Idle valve, and the throttle plate<s> the engine may have.
All of which are routine maintenece.

There are 3 spark plugs located directly underneath the valve cover, and all you have to do is remove the cover by unscrewing the 3 Allen head metric-sized screws. Then there are 3 more spark plugs between the engine and the firewall, but as Pheonix mentioned, you'll need a set of extension and flex extension socket wrenches to get to them. If you have long arms and a skinny frame, you should be able to tackle this with not too much trouble, but it's a big pain in the ****.

Seems that removing the intake manifold will be a lot of work, but i rather do it that way than using some sort of extensions and flex sockets.
oh, bump from from the dead. . hehehe

This is for the 95 ES, which is practically the same for the 2000:

Success!!! Got to change all 6 spark plugs with the removal of the intake manifold!
Started are 2pm and ended around 5pm. So for the first time doing it I say it went pretty well.
Just a few stubborn screws behind the manifold was a b*&tch!
Overall, new spark plugs and an oil change was a SUCCESS!!!!!
