Evap Cannister Replace or Avoid? Lexus Es 1999
Hi all,
After getting a evap vent code 0446, I took my car to a mechanic who told me the evap cannister needs replacing. He says it isn’t serious but will affect gas mileage. Is this true? Is this a concern, or can I avoid it like I have been? It hasn’t created any noticeable drivability issues. I cleared the code, and it passed smog anyways.
Thank you

Hello,
P0446 is usually not caused by the actual Charcoal Canister, but rather by one of the VSVs, here is one of the threads discussing this issue. Start with the VSV on the Charcoal Canister shown here, if that's good, proceed with what's mentioned in the former thread.
Hope this helps and best of luck!
