Default Twin Turbo 1UZ street/strip car!

hey guys, thought i would let you know about our lil street/strip car we have been playing with here in Australia, it's a 1970 Ford Capri which has a 1UZ in it with twin 62mm Garrett Turbo's, we have been tinkering away with this combo for 4.5 years, we just recently pulled the motor out to freshen it up, the motor has done 400 1/4 mile passes and 30,000 miles of street driving in that time. the car isn't a lightweight it is 3250lbs with driver, is showing around 1200hp @ the flywheel on 30psi boost!

the engine is just a very basic combo
Argo Rods
Ross Pistons 8:1 CR with our mild ported heads (10:1 CP Pistons going in now)
Cometic HeadGaskets
ARP 10mm head studs (still factory size, 60ft-lbs torque)
2JZ Valve Springs
mild ported heads
aftermarket cams
everything else is still factory

some video of the car on the strip

on the dyno

Car is pretty sick. I knew the 1UZFE was strong, but goodness that's a lot of power. Thanks for sharing.

I absolutely love your car. Saw the vids on youtube before that thing is a monster! Your car gives me inspiration for my 1UZ build.

Keep up the good work I would love to to own a 1000hp 1uz SC one day lol.

Awesome videos, very cool to see how much power you're getting out of the 1UZ!

thanks guys, the power is definitely there to be made and you don't need to spend alot of money. alot of so-called 1UZ guru's u need to go shimless with the heads or the lower intake manifold is restrictive etc etc we wanted to show it's not needed, we heard soooo many things about why our combo would never work. guess we are getting the last laugh you don't need to spend alot of money, this is a budget motor, it's not big $, as before, rods, pistons, valve springs n ARP head studs. the factory 10mm head studs with the right tune will work great, no lifting, we started to see a lil lifting in the last 6 months but that was only if we did 2-3 passes right after the other.

i think the power we are making now is the tip of the iceberg, we are doing a new motor, with better head porting and custom intake manifold plus some Precision PT6466's which should see us making 1500hp, hopefully the block holds up. the goal is to still leave it driveable for the street, so no big cams etc.

some pics from the stripdown of the motor after 4.5 years

you can still see the hone marks on the bores, the rings have barely worn

hard to believe piston pins this thin could withstand 1200hp and years of punishment

still only using 10mm head studs. 100's of passes @ 30psi and they have done a fantastic job. the torque was checked a year ago, they hadn't budged

cams and cam caps didn't fair too bad, that was the worst of them

only removed a few rods so far, crank looks pristine

shims look ok, not too much damage or wear

that looked to be the worst of them

bearing has seen better days, but, still not bad considering
