how many quarts of transmission oil does our car require?

It is like a manual transmission, just fill until fluid flows out the fill hole.

I am buying a used 2015 RX today. 97k miles on it and am thinking of asking the Lexus dealership to do this for me since it is sealed. I have a 2012 RX with 150k miles and, to my knowledge, it has never had a fluid drain/fill and it seems to run fine - maybe a slight delay and bump in RPM's going from 2nd to 3rd but nothing the average driver would notice. When I bought it a few years ago, I noticed several other RX's that did the same thing. I can say from experience that the drain and fill I did on my 2009 Highlander 6 cyl stopped the slipping it was experiencing at 140k miles. I did a double drain and fill over a 2 week period and the slipping completely stopped within several months - it was like a new transmission. I sold it with 215k miles on it and it was fine. It was easy to do since it had the dipstick tube. I posted about it on the Toyota Nation forum when I was asking for recommendations on what to do about the slipping. A number of people responded that if it is already slipping, I should not do the drain and fill as it could lead to total failure on the premise that the dirty fluid has microscopic pieces of metal that were creating the friction required for the tranny to keep working. That was a valid point but I did it anyway.

Nah not really a valid point. That's an old wives tale that men repeat and mainsplain for decades and keep repeating. Never repeat/say something cause you've heard it. (general advice to those)
So you did good in replacing part or all of your fluid.
There's about 200 things men (just men) repeat that grinds my gears (no pun intended).
You're bound to get that though when you poise a question on a "guy topic" like "cars" or "fluids."
You'll often get 875 bogus/wrong/half-right responses, sometimes 1 correct response thrown in, but usually just the wrong ones.
