Disappointing response from Lexus Canada
A minor annoyance with my model year CT is that when the cruise control is turned on the instrument display switches from the tachometer to the Hybrid System Indicator. My preference is to always have the tachometer displayed. I had a later model loaner that displayed the tach with cruise control on, so I contacted Lexus Canada through their website as follows:
Can my 2013 CT200h F-Sport be modified so that the tachometer is displayed when the cruise control is on (as is possible starting with the 2014 model)? Is there a part from a 2014+ CT200h that can be installed on my car so the tach is always on?
Here's the response I received:
Thank you for your recent e-mail.
We have noted your inquiry and would like to explain that Lexus Canada does not recommend modifying your vehicle in any manner. The vehicle meets applicable federal safety standards in the original form, and modification could affect the safety of the vehicle.
Although we are unable to provide the information that you have requested, we thank you for taking the time to write.
I don't understand how updating my 2013 to have the same feature found on later model CTs "would affect the safety of the vehicle.'' Anyhow, I'll ask my dealer's parts department if they know what parts affect the instrument display.

Thought I had the answer but after trying it discovered it only partially works...
Steering wheel spoke button - Disp, Settings, Tachometer, Keep On (Auto is default)
Works to keep on the Tach during all Drive Modes - ECO, Normal, Sport but #$%@ not with cruise.

That's RIGHT!!!
I CAN CONFIRM THE SAME ON MY 2013 CT 200h.
DON'T really need the tach bc it is a Sloooooooooow Hybrid!!! Not a RCF!!!

Yup, the "Keep On" setting doesn't do the job. I'd sure like to know Lexus' reasoning for making the display show only Hybrid System Indicator when cruise control is on.

Lexus customer service will always give you a vague official answer because they don't handle such matters. Your best bet is to find someone who can tune a Lexus, and see if they can retune the ECU to prevent the tach from going away when cruise is on.

Just tried it in my 2015 CT Premium package today and it stays on Tach when using Cruise control. Also stays on in Eco, and Normal modes.
But I could see the logic behind it changing to Hybrid mode when using cruise since you are not really controlling the RPMs with the accelerator in that mode. Never knew that option existed, so thanks for the tip.
