Adding power folding mirrors to my ct200 ?
I've been searching for 2 years for power folding mirrors for my RCF and I finally got them a couple weeks ago. I had to get them sourced from an EU country (LHD). IF you can source them they are probably going to be somewhat expensive. To give you an idea of what I paid it was almost $4500, which includes complete mirrors (all the options I have, BSM, RCTA, heated, dimming, etc), the interior mirror control switch, shipping, duties/taxes..etc. I will note that one feature I didn't realize with the EU mirrors is that they are convex, so you get a MUCH better picture of what is behind you and a greater viewing angle compared to the normal mirrors we get here in the states.
Not exactly sure with the CT however with my RCF, I had to make sure that my mirror control switch matched that of the ones with the memory feature for the mirrors/seats. There are two different ones. On previous year IS models you also had to change out the door ECU/module to get the power folding mirrors to work. Luckily on mine the EU and US door modules were the same or at least all the options I had they were. If I didn't have memory seats/mirrors my door modules might have been different. That's also something you'd need to look into. (added cost if you have to replace them).. My car already had the wiring in the door. US mirrors are missing two wires on the harness, while the EU mirrors have all wires in the harness. CT might be the same? I can't imagine Lexus having completely different wiring harnesses in the vehicles depending on country as it would be cheaper to do the above with the mirrors than a whole new wiring harness...etc.
One thing to keep in mind also is that on at least my mirror control switch I can push the manual fold button and the mirrors fold in, if however there is an auto button since we didn't have this option coded into the vehicle for the states, when you lock/unlock the car , the mirrors don't fold/unfold. I'm OK with this for now, unless I can find someone or the dealer to see if they can update/code the car for this feature. I don't always need the mirrors to fold in when I lock or unlock the car. I actually disabled this feature on our Mercedes because I didn't want the wires to eventually break which years down the line people report with our w211 model... so it's not a big issue.
I hope if you really want the power folding mirrors you can get them! Just prepare yourself for the price.. I still have to make a post on the RCF thread about part numbers and the break down of everything. I don't think many people will do this mod mainly due to cost. As it sits now I'm the only RCF in the USA with power folding mirrors.
You might be the only CT in the USA with them :-)

Retrofitting power folding mirrors 100% can be done. Not expensive either and depending on if you have the wiring in the doors not hard.
I'll make a new thread. But so far I have tested JDM power folding mirrors and they work. I also tested the Aliexpress auto fold module and that works when you lock/unlock the car.

I found a post here on CL where a gentleman added power folding mirrors to his Canada spec IS. He took apart the JDM mirrors and bolted the power actuators into the USDM LHD housings.
The plus side to that is that you only need to find the power folding mirrors that match our style... so IS, ES, CT..etc. Doesn't matter. As long as they are powerfolding they can be used. And it doesn't matter the condition of the housing or color since none of that will be used.
I picked up mirrors from Yahoo Japan auctions. The right side mirror was $38, then I picked up a spare for another $35. Driver side for some reason there is more expensive. I paid $116. I bought the push button switches for around $15 each. The RHD/LHD switches are identical. It's the panel that goes on the dash that is different.
The RHD mirror control panel looks like this:
LHD panel looks like this:
Both will work, just depends on if you care or not. I wanted to keep it OEM as possible and have it LHD. The RHD one is easier to find. But all the difference is just the placement of the buttons. The harness behind the dash will reach either or.
Luckily for me I had 9 wires at the door harness! So that means the doors are already pre-wired for power folding mirrors!!
Pinned exactly to the power folding mirror! The 3rd set of pins from the left are the power folding wires.
IF you only have 7 wires that just means you have about 2-3 more feet to extend wires. Not a huge deal, but the fact that the door harness already has 9 for me is wonderful.
I tested the JDM mirrors with the OEM folding push button switch and sure enough, they fold in and fold out!!
Here is the footwell connector on the driver side. The passenger has a similar one though the wires are slightly different. I'll post more later.
I ran the wiring to the footwell connector. There are no wires in my case that were in the footwell harness connector. So, it's easy as running two wires to the back of it (like I did for a clean look), or you could simply tap off the two wires in the front of the door harness that plugs in.
New wires ran from the back. You can see they line up with the connector for the door harness:
I have my car currently in this state. Note that you don't need to do all of this, but I am also installing a Apple CP/AA device so I needed to take the console out and other stuff. Plus it makes it easier for me to run the wires to the passenger side.
I would have had this done by this weekend but it was 100' degrees out and horrible. I'm traveling this week so when I get back on the weekend or next I'll have a how-to write up and post pictures in an official state.
But it works. I also tested the Aliexpress auto fold module and that was plug and play and took 2 minutes to install. So now if you lock/unlock the car the mirrors automatically fold and unfold.
All said this mod can EASILY be done for around $300. Even cheaper if you shop around for mirrors.
* Driver side mirror = Average price $80-120
* Passenger side mirror = $40-100
* Power folding switch = $15-50
- Total Low End: $150ish
Total High End: $270
Couple videos of me testing stuff before I started probing and figuring out where wires should be going to so some of what I'm talking about isn't relevant since I now know exactly what to do.
First video I made:
Second testing with both mirrors:
Aliexpress autofold module test:
EDIT:
I will note this is assuming that your CT does NOT have memory seats/tilting side mirror glass when putting it in reverse. IF you have that option then this process will NOT work. That option/level for the car for power folding mirrors talks with the door control modules then talks with the central body control module. It's all done via the CANBUS. If you do not have the memory seats then all the folding/unfolding is done directly by the power folding mirror switch pictured above.
